Week 10 - 30th January 2013

Hoye et al (2009), pp.281–286 states that the governing body of Athletics in Australia 'AA' have been in debt and can’t compare to swimming Australia, AA need to look at why the athletes are not performing and why they haven’t won as many medals in world champs and Olympic games. This will give them a measurement and from here they should be able to change the outcome. This is where managers go wrong and lose sight of what’s important.

Week 9 - 27th January 2013

After reading "Keeping the Flame Alive" The Shadow Minister asks a very good question: “how do we get every child having sport as part of their lives? Some of the Olympians are saying in that schools need to support their athletes, my school never supported me and it’s only through my passion for success that I continued and my passion for sport became success and I gained my motivation.

Week 8 - 17th January 2013

Sports marketing and how to market!! In one job interview I went for; they were looking at funds for the Special Olympics but where they were trying to fundraise was strange, I suggested to the manager to be fundraising at events like little athletics meets and things like that and he wasn't really sure how to take that. It’s as if he had no idea about the market considering the advertisement picture was of a kid doing athletics... This really makes me think that you need to understand your product and research where and when and how to promote and market.

Week 7 - 11th January 2013

How clubs big or small make money all depends on what they do to achieve the outcome and budget: you have things to consider like Membership fees, Sponsorship and then expenses including; Coach Wages, Insurance and Equipment and many more.

Week 6 - 13 December 2012

Hoye et al (2009), p.255. I really understood the structural elements after it showed the figure and comprises five elements:
- Members
- Volunteers
- Staff
- A council
- A board This structure makes it easy for me to understand as I have previously worked in a government funded sport organisation and this was the same structure we had within the organisation.
